Presidents Report 2011

A report from the President, Andrea Dwyer, was presented at the AGM on 26th AUGUST 2011:

Achievements:

The past seasons have continued in true goldeagles tradition with two successful seasons:

Last summer season saw nearly 20 teams play finals.

Of those 10 teams made the grand final and 8 were awarded the premiers.

We have had a total of 23 teams registered throughout this season.

In the current season we have had 23 teams registered, with 14 on track to play finals.

Committee

Our energetic and enthusiastic committee has worked tirelessly throughout the year to run a professional netball club with a vision of continuous improvement.  We strive to carry on the good work of that paved before us.  We aim to respect the past, but also be innovative in the future.

A big thanks to the executive committee members,  Nicole Stow VP; Gayle Sparkes Treasurer; Miran Pritchard Ass Treasurer; Alyson Heinze Secretary.  Together with our Coaches co-ordinator Di, Marg Stuart managing uniforms, trophies and vote count, Sally our Postal coordinator and the other 6 committee members we have been able to achieve great things over the past 12 months.

We have introduced hoodies which has been well received amongst the players and they give our club memebers, including coaches a sense of belonging. We had a very successful presentation night, with a revised format at the Sport for all stadium last winter, and Noble Park playzone for the summer season.

As a committee we believe that we should utilize all available technology to support the smooth running of the club.  We have seen the website fully developed online deposits for members and more recently a twitter and facebook page to offer interactive communication.  In the upcoming year we hope to further develop our online tools to include amongst other things full player registration.

It is all important at this time to acknowledge the tireless efforts of a retiring committee member Gayle Sparks who has served Goldeagles for more than 10 years.  Gayle has contributed as a general commite member, selector, and treasurer and supported her husband during his time as President.  Gayle will be impossible to replace and it is a testament to her that we need at least four people to complete the breadth of tasks she currently undertakes.  Jenny Pope is also retiring after several years in the secretary role and more recently as a general committee member.  Jenny has been a very willing contributor and is always first to put up her hand for any job that needs to be done.  Jenny has been a really big help in ensuring the smooth running of all presentation events.

Thank you also to the selection committee, who each season have a very difficult task fielding more than 20 teams across a range of ages and stages which is local netball.

To those parents and others assosciated with the club that give up countless hours to coach we say a big thank you.  We have a couple of notable coaches who put there hand up season after season and often coach several teams and without people such as this we would not see the success on court that we are currently experiencing.  You provide our girls with the fundamentals of playing good netball.  You teach them to play as a team and above all you build confidence.  Well done to the goldeagles players who tried out and to those who represnted CSWNA throughout the squad season and also to the four Goldeagles girls who were part of the 13 Open state champion side.

Lastly to the children and young women that play netball proudly representing Goldeagles each week; we hope that this is an enjoyable and rewarding experience were you get to develop your skills, make friends and keep fit. Remember to thank your families as they are part of the team that make it happen.

"Love the game. Love the game for the pure joy of accomplishment. Love the game for everything it can teach you about yourself. Love the game for the feeling of belonging to a group endeavoring to do its best. Love the game for being involved in a team whose members can't wait to see you do your best. Love the game for the challenge of working harder than you ever have at something and then harder than that. Love the game because it takes all team members to give it life. Love the game because at its best, the game tradition will include your contributions. Love the game because you belong to a long line of players who have loved it. Love the game so much that you will pass on your love of the game to another who has seen your dedication, your work, your challenges, your triumphs... and then that player will, because of you, love the game."
